2025 FEE INCREASE NOTICE – Effective 7/1/2025 

 

Mission

The mission of the Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence (AzCFSE) is to administer state-of-the-art continuing professional education courses and accredited certification testing and practical skills evaluations, based on national fire service professional standards, which meet the comprehensive training needs of fire and rescue personnel, emergency managers and other responders, enabling them to better protect lives and property within their communities.

The AzCFSE provides Arizona certification for:

  • Firefighter I & II
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
  • Fire Instructor
  • Fire Officer
  • Fire Inspector
  • Fire Investigator

AzCFSE supports the annual Arizona Fire School and coordinates delivery of National Fire Academy (NFA) direct delivery classes around the State each year.

The Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence (AzCFSE) was established in 2010 with the support of the Arizona Fire Services Institute (AFSI), a consensus body representing Arizona's fire services with representation from the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA), Professional Firefighters of Arizona (PFFA), Arizona Fire District Association (AFDA), Volunteer Firefighters of Arizona (VFFA) and Metro Fire Chiefs.

Day-to-day management of the AzCFSE is provided by the Executive Board of the Arizona State Fire Training Committee (ASFTC), a 501c3 not-for-profit Arizona corporation. AzCFSE staff is responsible for the day-to-day administration of fire service training and Arizona firefighter certification processes for the State. Training and certification processes are presented by an instructor cadre from throughout the State. AzCFSE works closely with all stakeholder groups from throughout the State in establishing training programs and certification processes.

Fire School 2025

Fire School provides educational sessions from Basic Skills Training, Fire Prevention, Investigation, to Fire Leadership.  It is one of the best training experiences available at any venue in Arizona. 

Fire School will be September 3 - 7, 2025

The Arizona State Fire Training Committee

A volunteer group of dedicated fire service professionals from departments around the state is responsible for coordinating and managing the Arizona Fire School presented annually in September.
